nowHere "Hubert Selby Jr. Infants"

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

The Hubert Selby Jr. Infants is an underground music band based in Dublin City, consisting of four members hailing from Waterford, Dublin, and Birmingham. The band was formed in October 2022 following the dissolution of two previous bands, Electricals and Weird Feelings. Their debut EP, titled "Good Evening Pricks, It's the Hubert Selby Jr. Infants," was released in March 2023. The EP was recorded live in a single afternoon by Shaun Cadogan of Unyielding Love at Last Light Studios, capturing the raw and energetic sound the band aimed to achieve.

Drawing from their shared DIY punk backgrounds, the Hubert Selby Jr. Infants blend abrasive energy with a penchant for melody and a mischievous spirit. Their music has garnered comparisons to bands like Sebadoh and Cave In, though their unique sound lies somewhere between those influences. The band received recognition and support from underground legend Mike Watt on his "Watt From Pedro" radio show.

When I proposed them to create a playlist they kind of showed me the love! Jamie (guitar and voice) runs his own show called Germsville we just discovered and Andrew (drums) has another independent show we are big fans of called Little Plastic Tapes. So well I didn't have to explain anything and we already invited them to join us at The Big Romance as soon as possible. but for now, Enjoy what they have selected here! It's one of the best playlists we have received (at least to our taste).
