Joanna Rabeson is a London based French Singer-Songwriter and Composer. She has been writing songs for over 13 years in both French and English and always worked with her younger brother Matt Rbsn, beat maker.
Joanna Rabeson was born and raised in the suburb of Paris, France and she is originally from Madagascar. Growing up in a family of Jazz artists, she has always knew she would be part of the music somehow and discovered her gift at the age of 8. Listening to Pink Floyd, Deep Purple or Janis Joplin with her mother and Stevie Wonder, Miles Davies or Herbie Hancock with her father, she grew up in a broad range of genres. She finds her main inspiration in Classical, Soul, Hip Hop, Trip Hop and Electronic musics.
After a tumultuous youth, Joanna Rabeson moved to London from Paris in 2012 to pursue her dream and have been focusing on writing more songs, telling the story of a young woman struggling in the frenetic capital, haunted by the demons left behind her. Depression, violence and decadence have left scars and unhealed wounds, taking a strong dimension in the major part of her early work.
Her lyrics speak from the heart and unveil the broken soul hidden underneath the mask. Being very close to her brother, the detailed and exquisite compositions are the result of their sensitivity merged into one.
Later, Joanna Rabeson has found herself in the meditation and spirituality.
A new and decisive turn that has helped going through other difficulties and has given her the inspiration to write new songs.
